week 6 The last version for project 1

Image
I sketched a new sankey diagram. The arrows go downward to show the decline situation this time. I also manage to be specific of the years and each reason of the decline.

elements might be used on the cover

Image
Since my previous cover did not work (as my tutor said), i keen to create a new one.

week 6 new version&critques

Image
After meeting the tutor on Monday, I decided to use a sankey diagram rather than the network diagram. Feedback from the tutor: 1.The cover is not attractive (and does not make sence) 2.The graph is better than the last one, but it can still be better. The graph does not match the data exactly and it did not immidiately show the fact of dropping down in the first place. 3.There are some typographic issue on it suck as overlap of the text and the graph. The graph below is the possible modified version my tutor sketched. The picture is the possible modification of the cover

week 5

Image
After class, i created another graph for the page. I decided to apply a network diagram to show the relationship of each element.

week 6 early version& feedback

Image
Earlier this week, i create the info-graph below. From the feedback of my tutor, the graph does not show enough information. Furthermore, the information described on the text is supposed to be shown on the graph. In conclusion, i need to further explore the possible way to visualise the datas. We are supposed to tell a story by the graph rather than the text in it. This one was supposed to be a network diagram(like the one below). Some diagram that might be used later. The mock-up week 5

Image
As the title of it is "behind the decrease of the sheep number", i come up with the idea of showing the title on the third page of the booklet. As my tutor advised, i should have shrinked the diagram on the page. However, this time, i realise that the graph i choose might not be the one i really need.

Brainstorm for the booklet

Image
From my point of view, i need to determine the style of the whole booklet first before i start to put information in.

week 4

Image
We muck up the booklet and get feedback on the class this week. The first draft i draw is just a proportional area chart to show the different among different cattles. The tutor suggested that a booklet only have a chart on it shows no information. I need to show the story behind the chart.  I draw a line graph instead of  the proportional area chart on my second draft. According to the story i am going to describe, which is the reason of the sheep number drop down in NZ. Besides, i also present all the information i got beside the graph on the draft this time.

Week 3

Image
I have a presentation on Thursday this week. My graph compares the number of sheep and people in New Zealand in 2 decades. The draft above My tutor suggested that my graph needs more development. The comparison of the two population shows not enough information. After the presentation, I decide to create a graph to descirbe the numbers of sheep, cow, and beef cattles. My previous research shows the reason why the number of sheep decrease, a graph to show the relationship among different cattles is more reasonable in term of my research.
